Personal or business account, and how to work with more people on the same causes.
Your causes don’t hang off your user, they hang off an account. You can have several and switch between them from the selector in the header. They are managed in Configuration › Manage accounts.
For individual use. The account is yours and it is in your own name. It is the one created when you sign up.
Business
For a company, an association or a collective. Causes go out in the name of the organization, not yours.
Both can create causes, collect signatures and fundraise. The difference is whose name they appear under and who can work on them.
If the causes belong to an association, create the business account from the start. Moving causes from one account to another afterwards is not immediate, and whoever already signed did so seeing a different organizer.
In Manage accounts, you choose the type and give it a name. The business one asks for the name of the organization. You can have as many as you need and each one carries its own causes, its own payments and its own members separately.
In a business account you can invite more people by email. They receive an invitation and, when they accept it, they come in with the role you have given them. From the same screen you can temporarily block someone, which takes away their access without removing them from the account, and unblock them later.
A role is a set of permissions. You define the ones you need and assign them to each member. The healthy rule is to give the minimum: someone who only writes updates does not need to touch payments.
Deleting a role asks you to type its exact name to confirm, and it cannot be undone. Whoever had it loses those permissions there and then.
If you were invited to an account you no longer use, you can leave it. You lose access to its causes but your user and your other accounts stay as they were.
