# Signers' frequently asked questions

> What people ask most before and after signing, with the short answer.

  <Accordion title="Do I need an account to sign?">
    No. You only need an email you can check right then: we send you a 6-digit code and you confirm the signature with it. Accounts are for people who create and manage causes.

  <Accordion title="The code does not arrive">
    Check your spam folder and make sure you typed the address correctly. After a few seconds **Resend code** becomes active. The code expires after a few minutes; if it has expired, request a new one with the same button. If it still does not arrive after several attempts, wait a few minutes: the portal limits sending to prevent abuse.

  <Accordion title="It says that email has already signed">
    Each email counts once per cause. If you signed earlier and want to change something, [delete your signature](/en/firmar/tus-datos) from the confirmation email and sign again.

  <Accordion title="Can I sign without my name showing?">
    Yes. Tick **Do not show my name publicly (sign anonymously)**. Your signature counts just the same, your name does not appear on the cause page and your certificate states that the signature is anonymous. Whoever organises the cause does receive your name in their list, because a signature without a name would not count as a signature.

  <Accordion title="What does the organiser see about me?">
    Your name, your email and the country you signed from, in their list of signatures, to deliver the petition and, if you asked for it, send you updates. With the advanced signature they also receive your certificate. They do not see your password because there is none: there is no account.

  <Accordion title="Can I sign if I am a minor?">
    Yes, from the age of 14, or the minimum age your country sets to give consent, if higher. Signing a petition is not a contract. To pay for a boost you do need to be of legal age or have the authorisation of a parent or guardian.

  <Accordion title="Can I sign on behalf of someone else?">
    No. Each signature is a personal declaration by the person making it, with their name and their email. If someone wants to support the cause, pass them the link and let them sign from their own email.

  <Accordion title="I got my name wrong">
    Delete your signature from the link in the confirmation email and sign again with the correct name. The name cannot be edited afterwards because it is part of the certificate and its fingerprint.

  <Accordion title="What does the blue badge next to the organiser's name mean?">
    That this person or organisation has proven who they are with their ID document and a liveness check, just like when opening a bank account. Tap the badge to see it explained. The line **Campaign verified by Causfy** also appears on the signatures card.

  <Accordion title="Why does it ask me to prove I am a person?">
    A bot protection loads when you sign to prevent automated signatures. Normally you do not have to do anything; if it fails, try again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I sign from my phone?">
    Yes, and that is how most people sign. The button stays fixed at the bottom of the screen and the process is the same.

  <Accordion title="Is the page in another language?">
    The portal is shown in your language (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Italian or German) and you can change it with the selector in the header. Causes, however, are in the language their organiser wrote them in; they are not translated.

  <Accordion title="How do I know a cause is genuine?">
    Every cause goes through a review before it becomes public, the organiser can carry the verified identity badge, and every signature is recorded in a verifiable way. If you see something that should not be there, use **Report this cause** at the bottom of its page.
