You do not need to create an account or install anything to sign a cause. All you need is an email address you can check right then. ## Where you sign A cause opens from the link you were sent, or from the public listing at [causfy.com/causas](https://causfy.com/causas). On the page you see how many people have signed, what is being asked and of whom, and the **Sign this petition** button. On a computer it sits in the card on the right; on a phone it stays fixed at the bottom of the screen. A window asks for two things: your **first and last name** and **your email**. Below are two optional boxes: * **Do not show my name publicly (sign anonymously)**: your signature counts just the same, but your name does not appear on the cause page. * **I want to receive this cause's updates by email**: only if you want the organiser to tell you how it is going. By pressing the button you confirm that you are at least 14, or the minimum age in your country to give consent, and you agree that we verify your email. Sign this petition window with the fields First and last name and Your email, the boxes to sign anonymously and receive updates, the consent sentence and the green Sign this petition button We send a **6-digit code** to the email you typed. Enter it on the **Check your inbox** screen and press **Confirm signature**. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder and use **Resend code**; the button becomes active after a few seconds. You will see **Your signature now counts!** and, right below, your [signature certificate](/en/firmar/certificado) and the buttons to share the cause. You will also receive a confirmation email with links to download the certificate or [withdraw your signature](/en/firmar/tus-datos) later. If you close the window halfway through, your signature **does not count yet** and you will have to start again. The portal warns you before closing. ## Worth knowing * **One signature per email and cause.** If that email has already signed this cause, the portal tells you and does not count it twice. * **A check that you are a person.** A bot protection loads when you sign. You do not have to do anything; only in rare cases does it ask you to try again. * **Signing is declaring.** If the organiser wrote the petition with your details inside ("I, your name, resident of your city, ask…"), those gaps are filled with what you typed when you sign, and that is how it appears on your certificate. * **No account, no password.** The email with the code is the whole check. That is why it matters to type the address correctly. * **It works the same on a phone**, and that is how most people sign. ## What happens next Your signature is added to the cause's counter and, unless you marked it as anonymous, your name appears among the latest signers. Whoever organises the cause receives your name and your email so they can deliver the petition and, if you asked for it, send you updates.
