# Create your account and sign in

> The three ways into Causfy and how to leave your account protected from day one.

In Causfy there is **no password to remember**. You sign in with a code sent to your email, with an account you already have, or with a passkey.

The first time you sign in, your account is created on its own. There is no separate sign-up form.

## The three ways in

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="With your email">
    1. Type your email address and press continue.
    2. We send you a six-digit code.
    3. Type it on the screen. When you complete the sixth digit it goes through on its own, with nothing else to press.

    The code expires. If it takes a while to arrive, check your spam folder and use **Resend code**; you have to wait a minute between sends.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="With an account you already have">
    You can sign in with **Google**, **LinkedIn**, **Facebook** or **Apple**.

    Use the same email address you would use in Causfy. If you sign in once with Google and another time with the email code, as long as the address is the same it is the same account.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="With a passkey">
    A passkey replaces the password with your fingerprint, your face or your device PIN. It is the fastest way in and the hardest one to steal.

    To use it you have to create it first from your account. We explain that below.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Warning>
  Your identity in Causfy is **the email plus the organization**. The same address can belong to two different accounts if you work with two organizations. If you sign in and don't see your causes, check at the top which account you are in.
</Warning>

## Protect your account

Your causes handle money and other people's signatures. It is worth two minutes.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a passkey" icon="key-round">
    Go to **Configuration › Authorized Devices** and add one. We will ask you for a code by email to confirm it is you, and then your device does the rest with your fingerprint or your face.

    Create one on every device you use often, the computer and the phone.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on two-factor authentication" icon="shield-check">
    In **Configuration › Account Settings**, turn on two-factor authentication. Scan the QR code with your authentication app and type the code it shows you.

    Keep that app somewhere safe: it is what we will ask you for whenever you do something sensitive.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review your sign-ins" icon="history">
    In **Configuration › Connection Log** you can see where your account has been signed in from. If something doesn't add up, change your passkeys and tell support.

  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  With a passkey or two-factor authentication turned on, we will ask for them again before sensitive actions, such as changing where a cause's money goes. It is a three-second nuisance that saves you a bad day.
