# Updates

> How to tell your supporters how the cause is going, and why it is what moves it most.

An update is a short entry you post on your cause to say what has happened since last time. It appears on the public page, under the story, with its date.

Don't touch the story to tell news. The story explains **why** the cause exists and newcomers read it from end to end; updates say **how it is going**.

## Posting one

    Go to the updates section.

    Short. One piece of news per update. If you have three things to say and none of them is urgent, one entry with all three beats three entries in a day.

    A photo of the meeting, of the event, of the document handed in. Optional.

    It shows on the public page straight away.

## What to say

<Tip>
  A cause with no updates for weeks looks abandoned, and people who hesitate don't sign something that looks abandoned. Saying something every two or three weeks is enough.

## Editing and deleting

You can correct an update after publishing it and you can delete it. If what you want is to put right something a lot of people have already read, it is more honest to post a new one correcting it, and leave the old one up.
